Description
 |
Sulfide
rubbers are made of liquid Part A and Part B which cure at
room temperature to soft, non-tacky rubbers for flexible molds
when mixed in the correct ratios. They are suitable for casting
waxes, gypsum plasters, cements and some low exotherm resins.
Sulfides are a new generation of classic polymer formulas
advanced to innovative levels of high performance through
creative chemistry.

Model
Preparation
 |
Sulfides
release easily from most properly sealed and released model
surfaces. They will stick to copper containing metals (i.e.
bronze) and may attack or dissolve lacquered surfaces and
styrene type plastics. Bronze should be coated with shellac. |
Mixing
and Curing
 |
Sulfides
remain pourable longer and cure faster than most other mold
rubbers. The rubber may be demolded in 6 to 8 hours, but overnight
cures between 12 to 16 hours or longer are preferable. Sulfides
resist cold flow and distortion better than any competitive
sulfide rubbers. Liquid Sulfide rubber will bond to previously
poured, cured or uncured, Sulfide of the same grade. Bond strength
between layers will improve during the first 24 hours of cure. |
Bonding
Primer
 |
Use
Bonding Primer to aid in achieving bonds with the liquid Sulfide
and other surfaces. Apply a thin coat of Binding Primer to bonding
surface and pour Rubber over prepared surface within 60 minutes.
Bond strength will improve for 24 hours. For optimum results
on porous surfaces, seal using a sealer or Bonding Primer. Apply
coat of Bonding Primer after sealer has dried. |
Using
the Mold
 |
Sulfide
molds do not shrink upon curing. Repeated use draws extractible
plasticizer from the mold and may cause all sulfide mold rubbers
to shrink. |
